  Embroidery, a folk art with a long tradition, has an important position in the history of Chinese arts and crafts. In its long development embroidery has been inseparable from silkworm raising and silk reeling and weaving. China was the first country in the world to weave silk. Silkworms were domesticated as early as some 5,000 years ago. The production of silk threads and fabrics gave rise to the art of embroidery. In 1958, a piece of silk embroidered with a dragon and phoenix was discovered in a state of Chu tomb of the Warring Sates Period (475-221BC). More than 2,000 years old, it is the earliest piece of Chinese embroidery ever unearthed. Embroidery became widespread during the Han Dynasty (206BC-AD220) and many embroidered pieces discovered date back to that period. Today, silk embroidery is practiced nearly all over China. The Four Famous Embroideries of China refer to the Xiang embroidery in central China's Hunan Province, Shu embroidery in western China's Sichuan Province, Yue embroidery in southern China's Guangdong Province and Su embroidery in eastern China's Jiangsu Province. Xiang Embroidery Xiang embroidery is well known for its time-honored history, excellent craftsmanship and unique style. The earliest piece of Xiang embroidery was unearthed at the No 1 Tomb of Mawangdui, Changsha City of the Han Dynasty (206BC-AD220). The weaving technique was almost the same as the one used in modern times, which demonstrated that embroidery had already existed in the Han Dynasty. In its later development, Xiang Embroidery absorbed the characteristics of traditional Chinese paintings and formed its own unique characteristics. Xiang embroidery experienced its heyday at the end of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and in the early Republic of China (early 20th century), even surpassing Su embroidery. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Xiang embroidery was further improved and developed to a new level. Xiang embroidery uses pure silk, hard satin, soft satin and nylon as its material, which is connected with colorful silk threads. Absorbing the spirit of Chinese paintings, the embroidery reaches a high artistic level. Xiang embroidery crafts include valuable works of art, as well as materials for daily use. Shu Embroidery Also called Chuan embroidery, Shu embroidery is the general name for embroidery products in areas around Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Shu embroidery enjoys a long history. As early as the Han Dynasty, Shu embroidery was already famous. The central government even designated an office in this area for its administration. During the Five Dynasties and Ten States periods (907-960), a peaceful society and large demand provided advanced conditions for the rapid development of the Shu Embroidery industry. The works incorporated flowers, leaves, animals, mountains, rivers and human figures as their themes. Altogether, there are 122 approaches in 12 categories for weaving. The craftsmanship of Shu embroidery involves a combination of fine arts, aesthetics and practical uses, such as the facings of quits, pillowcases, coats, shoots and screen covers. Yue Embroidery Also called Guang embroidery, Yue embroidery is a general name for embroidery products of the regions of Guangzhou, Shantou, Zhongshan, Fanyu and Shunde in Guangdong Province. According to historical records, in the first year of Yongyuan's reign (805) during the Tang Dynasty (618-907), a girl named Lu Meiniang embroidered the seventh volume of the Fahua Buddhist Scripture on a piece of thin silk 30 cm long. And so, Yue embroidery became famous around the country. The prosperous Guangzhou Port of the Song Dynasty promoted the development of Yue embroidery, which began to be exported at that time. During the Qing Dynasty, people animal hair as the raw material for Yue embroidery, which made the works more vivid. During Qianlong's reign (1736-1796) of the Qing, an industrial organization was established in Guangzhou. At that time, a large number of craftsmen devoted themselves to the craft, inciting further improvements to the weaving technique. Since 1915, the work of Yue embroidery garnered several awards at the Panama Expo.Influenced by national folk art, Yue embroidery formed its own unique characteristics. The embroidered pictures are mainly of dragons and phoenixes, and flowers and birds, with neat designs and strong, contrasting colors. Floss, thread and gold-and-silk thread embroidery are used to produce costumes, decorations for halls and crafts for daily use. Su Embrodery With a history of more than 3,000 years, Su embroidery is the general name for embroidery products in areas around Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. The craft, which dates back to the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280), became a sideline of people in the Suzhou area during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Well known for its smoothness and delicateness, Su embroidery won Suzhou the title City of Embroidery in the Qing Dynasty. In the mid and late Qing, Su embroidery experienced further developments involving works of double-sided embroidering. There were 65 embroidery stores in Suzhou City. During the Republic of China period (1912-1949), the Su embroidery industry was in decline due to frequent wars and it was restored and regenerated after the founding of new China. In 1950, the central government set up research centers for Su embroidery and launched training courses for the study of embroidery. Weaving methods have climbed from 18 to the present 40. Su embroidery features a strong, folk flavor and its weaving techniques are characterized by the following: the product surface must be flat, the rim must be neat, the needle must be thin, the lines must be dense, the color must be harmonious and bright and the picture must be even. Su embroidery products fall into three major categories: costumes, decorations for halls and crafts for daily use, which integrate decorative and practical values.   San Francisco/San Jose Nov. 2009 – The power of the entrepreneurial spirit will be taking Northern California by storm during Global Entrepreneurial Week (GEW), November 16^th to the 22^nd . This is when The Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour will be making two stops within the Greater Bay Area, one at West Valley Community College on Tuesday, November 17^th and the other at San Francisco City College on Wednesday, November 18^th.
  
  The Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour is not your typical entrepreneurship event with a keynote-speaker and a business-pitch. This FREE event is full of music, movement, food, text message voting, high-fives, and opportunities to receive over $1200.00 in prizes and of course, tips and tools to turn an idea into reality. You will be inspired by the stories of successful, young entrepreneurs and agents of change under 30. Brainstorm your new business ideas and gain insight into your goals. You can get your burning questions answered during the interactive panel and receive feedback and support with other like-minded attendees during networking breaks.
  
  This high-energy event features the top young successful local entrepreneurs. If you're interested in starting a business or setting yourself apart in your career now, this event is for you! Take your career to the next level faster and learn more about entrepreneurship and turn your idea into a reality. Existing entrepreneurs who want to recharge their batteries are also welcome.   The tour is presented by the California Community Colleges Economic Workforce Development Program (EWD). With state unemployment at a record high and job prospects grim, more and more college students are thinking about starting their own business. “The state’s Community Colleges and Centers are looking for new ways to generate innovative businesses that create jobs and face down the recession,” says Mike Roessler, EWD's program director. “Bringing the Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour to our college campuses is an out-of-the-box strategy that taps a largely overlooked resource: the creativity and energy of our young people.” The Tour helps students take the next step by offering inspiration and practical advice about how to start a business.
  
  Created in 2006 by Sheena Lindahl and Michael Simmons, the tour features many of California’s top young entrepreneurs who've made, earned or sold companies for millions of dollars and/or made a huge impact before the age of 30. One speaker, Cameron Johnson (24) from Los Angeles, started a dozen profitable businesses and became a self-made millionaire while he was still a teenager. Another speaker, Rahim Fazal (27) from San Francisco, sold his first business for $1.5 million as he was graduating from high school. Fazal is the co-founder and CEO of the venture-backed company, Involver.
  
  “More than half the companies on the 2009 Fortune 500 list were launched during a recession or bear market,” says Simmons. “Technology and globalization have made it very inexpensive to start a business. Now is the best time that there has ever been to become your own boss.”
  
  According to a 2007 Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation survey by Harris Interactive, four out of 10 young people would like to start their own businesses someday. “However, when we talked with students, we realized that many of them needed inspiration and support to achieve this dream,” says Lindahl. “That’s why we started the tour.”
  
  The goal of the Extreme Entrepreneurship tour is to have college students around the nation graduate with an entrepreneurial mindset. In 2009, interest in starting a business rose 16% among 4,200 California students who attended tour events. Small businesses with fewer than 20 employees are responsible for 35% of all jobs in the nation's largest state.
  
  For the first time, students who attend the tour events will be asked to take a pledge to create their own jobs by the end of 2010. Using social media, tour attendees, speakers and staff will be able to ask questions, post updates on their businesses, and post comments about the tour on Twitter in real time and have them shared on http://www.extremetour.org/ca. The goal is to get 10,000 new pledges by the end of the year.
  
  California is one of six states that led the nation in entrepreneurial activity in 2008, according to the Kauffman Index of Entrepreneurial Activity. In an effort to capitalize on that trend, Economic and Workforce Development, Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs), Centers for International Trade and Development (CITDs), and community colleges are bringing California’s top young entrepreneurs to 18 college campuses for the first time.  The state's future business owners will learn the how-to’s of business startup, where to get help, to consider community college, as well as the importance of completing their education.
  
  Both emerging entrepreneurs and students from all disciplines are invited to attend tour events in their area to learn how they can apply the entrepreneurial mindset to their lives regardless of their choice of careers. Since the tour was created in 2006, it has presented 100 events in 30 states, reaching 100,000 students across the country.
  
  The three Extreme Tour directors had observed a gap in the conferences and events they were attending, “We saw that there were lots of great entrepreneurship events going on around the country, but not a lot featuring the top young entrepreneurs,” Simmons said. “When I went to NYU, you had Michael Dell speak, and it was a good story, but not something that makes (a college student) think, ‘I could walk away and do this.” That’s one of the unique things about Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour – the keynote speakers are in their twenties or thirties, an age bracket that has more resonance with college students, “Most people haven’t seen someone who has created a multi-million dollar business in their twenties,” Simmons said. “We have them share (their story) authentically and ask them what their real challenges were.”
  
  For many of the students attending this Free Tour, the content is completely new territory. As part of an introduction to the idea of entrepreneurship as a career path, Simmons sees the role of Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour as laying a groundwork of confidence. “The core of starting a business is having that belief in yourself that you can accomplish something, and conquer your fears, and apply that to the rest of your life,” Simmons said. So far, the tour has made over 100 stops, in over 30 states. The return on investment is nothing short of impressive – 93% of people who attend the event have been inspired to take action. This idea serves to strengthen the community of aspiring entrepreneurs that Simmons said he sees emerging out of things like Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour and Global Entrepreneurship Week. “Entrepreneurship education has never been as connected to itself, and to a movement, as it has been with GEW and (this kind of event),” Simmons said. There are two tour stops planned during Global Entrepreneurship Week in the Greater Bay Area,– one at West Valley College Theater, 14000 Fruitvale Ave., Saratoga, CA, 95070 on Nov. 17; and one at City College of San Francisco on Nov. 18, Diego Rivera Theatre, 50 Phelan Ave, San Francisco, CA, 94112.

  I am thinking about what should we do when we need to buy a personal computer. There are two path to follow while buying a PC. First is to buy a branded or non-custom computer and second is to select a Custom Computer System Package from a reliable Whit Box Vendor. The term “Custom Computer System Packages” is not new and we all face such situations where a branded computer system does not produce 100% satisfaction. Often, different components of the system perform less efficient as compare to a well balanced and well thought Custom Computer System. For me it is always better to adopt the second path (Custom PC) since we face lots of issues with a complete and non-custom computer system. If we order a computer from a name vendor such as IBM or Del, we normally don't have a lot of control over what goes into the computer, and often we won't even know whose components are placed.
  
  In fact, what we get may not be the part we ordered. We get to choose the CPU (although we may not have any non–Intel choices), the type of memory (but not the vendor), possibly the hard drive and/or optical drive vendor (again, probably not the vendor). And good luck getting any OS other than Windows XP preinstalled. Dell currently offers a Windows-less system with FreeDOS; if we want Linux or something else, we have to add it ourselves. So the solution is to go to a good White Box Vedor shop, that by contrast, gives us many more component choices and lots more information—often, a list of CPUs and motherboards; a range of sound and video cards; name-brand drives and memory; plus options for fans and other cooling, power supply upgrades, case mods. It's also easier to get systems with multiple hard drives and multiple optical drives. And you're more likely to be able to get the latest blazing-fast Asus motherboard, Corsair memory, or high-capacity ATA/SATA hard drive (although national brands like AlienWare will probably have the hottest stuff too).
